July 2001 NJ Rally in the Elmer, NJ area.
The July 2001 NJ Rally was hosted by members Chris Bombeke & Bill Boyer.
The morning started like every other weekend down here in KZ country (we've
never seen more than 2 together at one time), getting up bright and early, staring at the KZ's for an hour and drooling like the day we got them. Just
kidding, we only stared and drooled for 45 minutes! After cleaning the beasts up and getting some breakfast, (courtesy of Bill's wife Pam, thanks
Pam!!) we took our little cruise. Our plans changed a little and instead of
sightseeing the cows, we headed east towards Atlantic City. After stopping
at the Mays Landing courthouse, which is the home of a bronze Indian sculpture that Bill created over 20 years ago, we had a nice lunch and some
good conversation at the Mill Street Pub just down the street. Applause for
William who in addition to being a nice guy, has attended both the 2000 and now the 2001
rallies (the only person in our club who has I might add). All 3 KZ's cruised nicely and garnered some interesting
looks from passers by ( or should I say "passed"ers by). Three 6 cylinder motorcycles do indeed have a particular, sweet sound all their own!
After about 3 hrs. we were starting to feel the effect of the sun and heat, not to
mention William had to be in central Virginia by 11 pm so we headed back to Bill's.
All in all we logged about 130 miles on this little jaunt. We were sorry to hear Dave and Paul and the rest of you couldn't make it but there
will be other opportunities. We are always up for a ride, or at least getting together to stare at our KZ1300's and drool.

From left to right - William Anderson from Atlanta, Ga., Chris Bombeke &
Bill Boyer from NJ. William's is a 1979 A-1, Chris' is a 1982 A-4, and Bill's is a 1980
B-2 converted to an A-2. This was the bike converted by Jack Sapp. Good work
Jack! Check the members page for

2001 Labor Day Rally in the Chicago, Illinois area.
First off, let me thank you from the rank and
file troops for your effort towards keeping the BEST
motorcycle site on the net! Next, I would like to put in my two cents on the 2002
Rally; I would be happy to
do what I can to help logistically, a 1300 rally in the Chicago area, and I'm sure there are some others in
this area willing to be of assistance also. As you have seen in my posts to the members board, I've been
trying lately to assemble the Illinois members,..... its no easy task. Although Bill
Matchus, myself, and Rick
Bay, did enjoy a short 260 mile ride over the Labor Day weekend (cut short by gremlins in my charging
system). Again, thanks for a place to hammer out the many problems we all share
in... Mark
I included a pic from our parting moments; the ZN being
Rick's, the 80' factory touring is mine, and last but not least the 79' is
Bill's. I also include some pic's of my bike... Mark Thompson

A few pictures sent in by member Dennis Rabehl from the north pole. See
if you can guess where the 1300 is in one of these pictures. I guess this
sets the record for the furtherest trip north on a 1300! Anybody want to
try & top this?
Veterans Day ride Sunday 11-11-01 to the Houston VA National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.
Many local motorcycle clubs were represented including the Christian
Motorcyclists Association. I was the only 1300 and there were a few 6
cylinder Hondas, a few sportbikes, a few standard bikes of different makes and
about 99% Harleys out of the estimated 200-300 bikes in attendance.
Next year, Wisconsin looks like it might be a good choice for 2002!
Go to Rally 2002, Rally 2003, Rally 2004,...
For future rallies, the idea is that we should get members that live in whatever area of the country we meet in each year to help out with planning rides, lodging, etc., for the other members that will be attending. This will make it easier for everyone to plan the trip and also have some confidence that someone will be there that knows the area fairly well. Also, I spent many hours posting a state directory on the members bulletin board so everyone that wanted to could let others know where they live so you can plan weekend rides together. This info should help us plan future rally's too. Members could also take pictures of their area of the country while they're out and about and send them in so I could post those for potential future rally spots.
